Frequently asked questions

Which income year should I use?

Payments from July 2026 to June 2027 are based on 2025 income. For Quebec, that is family income on line 275. For the CCB, it is adjusted family net income. One field is used for both if you leave the federal income blank.

How is the family-allowance reduction calculated?

The maximum is reduced by 4% of income above $60,398 (couple) or $44,032 (single parent), then it cannot fall below the minimum. The 4% rate applies to the family total, not to each child. The single-parent supplement is paid in full when at least one child is in exclusive custody, and at half when every child is shared.

Do school supplies depend on income?

No. The supplement is $127 for each child aged 4 to 16 on September 30, 2026, and $63.50 in shared custody. Income does not reduce it.

How does shared custody affect the CCB?

The reduction rate follows the number of children (a shared child still counts as one). The reduced amount is then multiplied by the custody share: 50% for a child in shared custody.

Are disability supplements included?

No. The child disability benefit and Quebec’s supplements for a disabled child are not calculated. Actual payments can be higher.
