Frequently asked questions
What is the maximum weekly benefit in 2026?
At the $103,000 cap, the weekly base is $103,000 ÷ 52. At 70% that is $1,386.54; at 55%, $1,089.42; at 75%, $1,485.58. An employee is capped on the average of the paid weeks, not on annualized earnings above $103,000.
Why is the week count so high?
Parental weeks and the sharing bonus can be split. The tool assigns all of them to the person using the calculator, to show the household pool. If the other parent takes some, reduce the total. A sole parent does not receive the sharing bonus.
Does the special plan pay more?
The rate is 75%, but there are fewer weeks (maternity 15 instead of 18, and no 55% block). The total can be lower or higher depending on how many weeks are taken. Compare both plans with the same earnings.
What is the Employment Insurance amount?
It is an estimate of regular EI, at 55%, separate from QPIP. The published weekly maximum is $729 for 2026 (the raw $68,900 ÷ 52 × 55% is $728.75, which the published maximum rounds to $729). The Quebec employee premium rate is 1.30%.
Is the low-income top-up included?
No. That supplement depends on the general minimum wage in force when the claim is made. This estimate does not add it.
